SoulCollage® Retreat in Vieques, Puerto Rico
Kat Kirby, M.Ed, ATR, SoulCollage® Facilitator and Trainer
December 5-12, 2015
Calling All Creative Souls… If You Are:
- Longing for a better understanding of your self.
- Someone who enjoys combining creativity with spirituality
- Curious about SoulCollage® process, or you have already started your SoulCollage® journey and want to go deeper.
- Wanting to connect with your Inner Wisdom
- Wishing to transform your relationship with your Inner Critic
- Ready to combine travel with learning and community
- A woman who deserves some quality “ME” time!
Then this retreat is for YOU!
Join me on the unspoiled island of Vieques, off the coast of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean, for a week of creativity with a twist! The process of SoulCollage® combines creativity with spirituality and a dash of psychology, to help you better understand your passion, purpose, goals and dreams. We will make cards using a simple collage technique, and start to build the story of YOU! Because each card represents one part of you, whether it be the roles you play in life, your supporters and challengers, or your spirit and animal guides.
We will stay at a small compound of cottages surrounding a swimming pool, and will have the place to ourselves for a week! This is a wonderful venue to explore your creativity and delve further into your SoulCollage® journey. AND, because it’s part of the US, we don’t need passports or money exchanges.
You don’t have to be artistic, since this process works with all levels of skill. In fact, the less art you’ve done, the more intuitive you will be, which is an important quality of SoulCollage®.
About Your Retreat Guide:
Kat Kirby is a SoulCollage® Facilitator and Trainer, as well as the Dean of the SoulCollage® Institute. As a Board-Certified, Registered Art Therapist, she understands the importance of creativity as a healing modality. Her gentle teaching style is encouraging, and she paces her retreats and workshops to allow for quiet time as well as sharing and networking. Kat mentors graduate students at Prescott College in Expressive Art Therapy courses, and teaches mosaics, collage and other classes through Yavapai College. Kat loves to combine work and travel, and has offered workshops, retreats, and trainings in New Mexico, Arizona, Philadelphia, California, Boston, Southern France, Portugal, and now Vieques. She lives in Prescott, Arizona, with her husband, luthier Bill Meyer of Jack Straw Guitars, as well as her two dogs, Ripley and Peaches.
What the Retreat is about:
We will combine creativity and responding to the natural surroundings through collage and journaling. Using simple, basic collage techniques, we will create small “vision board” type artwork, called “SoulCollage®” cards, and begin to build the story of our SELVES. If you are already familiar with this process, you will be able to delve more deeply into your SoulCollage® journey with the guidance of both Kat and her assistant, Facilitator Diane Scott from Philadelphia. And if you have never made even one SoulCollage® card, you will begin to explore this wonderful creative process within a community of like-minded women.
Vieques is one of the last of the unspoiled Caribbean Islands. If you want golf and nightlife, this island is NOT for you.
If you want empty beaches, quiet evenings overlooking the tropical landscape, great restaurants and nice people, come to Vieques with our group!
Bravos Beach Cottages is located in the beach-side Bravos de Boston neighborhood, just outside the main town of Isabel Segunda and convenient to restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, ATM, etc. It is a short drive to the world-class beaches in the Nature Preserve as well as the town of Esperanza, a charming fishing village on the south shore with waterfront restaurants, shops and water sports.
A ‘must see’ attraction on Vieques is the Bioluminescent Bay on the south side of the island, within the Nature Preserve. Microscopic creatures in the water emit a beautiful, unearthly glow during night-time kayak or pontoon boat tours. It’s considered one of the best of its kind in the world. And, on the evening of the New Moon, we will be experiencing this phenomenon (as an optional field trip.)

Schedule (subject to change)
We will spend our mornings exploring our creativity and being inspired by our surroundings. Learning about and deepening our SoulCollage® journey will be a large part of our mornings. We have lots of time for making cards, journaling, doing readings and deepening into the process.
Afternoons will be filled with field trips to various beaches, local markets, restaurants, or just relaxing by the pool (or of course you may continue to play in the studio). Since we will fill our fridges with the foods of your choosing, lunches are at your leisure.
Dinners will be spent either at home, cooking together, or dining out. Evenings are up to you: Open Studio time or more relaxing and enjoying the peaceful ambiance at our home away from home.
